One of the cool things about traveling with G & J in France is they speak French. Each time we traveled through a lock they had the opportunity to have conversations with the lockkeepers. J speaks French much better than she gives herself credit for and each time we would go through a lock her and G would come back and tell us what, if anything they learned about the operators. It was pretty intersting. The boat being so long, we could not hear the conversations but they were on it. Also many times on this trip J received comments on how good her French actually was.
